Huawei MateBook 13, Thin Laptop Competitor to MacBook Air

Charezrivaldo – Huawei introduced the latest line of premium laptops, Huawei MateBook 13. This laptop was introduced at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2021 which is taking place in Las Vegas, United States.

Huawei MateBook 13 is reported as a competitor to Apple’s MacBook Air. Huawei MateBook 13 has a size of about six percent more compact than the latest series of MacBook Air. This Huawei laptop weighs about 1.2 kilograms with a thickness of 0.58 inches. This size is indeed thinner than the MacBook Air which has a thickness of about 0.61 inches.
 
On the screen, Huawei MateBook 13 carries a 13-inch screen with resolution touch screen technology 2.169 x 1.440, 200 PPI. The laptop’s screen also has a higher screen-to-body ratio than the latest MacBook Air.

Screen-to-body ratio of Huawei MateBook 13 reaches 88 percent while MacBook Air 82 percent. For the hardware part, Huawei MateBook 13 has two models with two different chipsets but with the same amount of RAM, which is 8 GB.
 
The first model relies on the Intel Core i5-8265U with 256 GB SSD storage, while the second model uses the Intel Core i7-8565U chipset with 512 GB SSD storage. Especially for the second model, Huawei embed the Nvidia GeForce MX 150 graphics card.
 
Unfortunately Huawei must sacrifice the number of ports in order to make the shape of the laptop more compact. Huawei MateBook 13 only carries two USB Type C ports and one 3.5 mm audio jack. The USB C port on the left side of the laptop is useful for charging and data transfer. While other USB C ports are used to connect a laptop with an external monitor via a converter.
 
Huawei MateBook 13 will begin to be marketed on January 29 next on the online buying and selling site Amazon and Newegg. Core i5 version of the Huawei MateBook 13 is valued at 999 US dollars, while the Core i7 version is valued at 1,299 US dollars.
